The Plan

Four priorities. One community.

A practical, moderate, resident-focused agenda for Niagara-on-the-Lake — built around the issues that shape daily life across every part of our town.

01 / 04

Responsible Growth & Planning

Niagara-on-the-Lake should grow on its own terms — predictably, carefully, and in ways that fit the town we love. That means putting community character and infrastructure first, not after.

Practical Commitments

  • Stronger alignment between development decisions and the Official Plan
  • Predictable, transparent planning processes that residents can follow
  • Infrastructure capacity (roads, water, services) considered before approvals
  • Genuine community input, not after-the-fact consultation
  • Protection of unique village identities across NOTL

02 / 04

Good Governance & Transparency

Public trust is built by clarity, respect, and consistent communication. Residents deserve a Council that listens carefully, explains its reasoning, and acts on evidence.

Practical Commitments

  • Keep closed sessions to the absolute legal minimum and report back to residents in plain language
  • Require recorded votes on major decisions and make Council voting records easy to access
  • Rebuild advisory committees by appointing experienced residents and ensuring local expertise is taken seriously
  • Strengthen ethics, disclosure, conflict-of-interest, and code of conduct standards to restore trust and accountability
  • Open up Town Hall with plain-language communication and easier public access to budgets, planning matters, and major Town decisions

03 / 04

Quality of Life for Residents

Day-to-day livability matters. Traffic, parking, noise, public spaces, and walkable neighbourhoods affect every resident — and need consistent attention from Council.

Practical Commitments

  • Balance tourism with the needs of the people who live here
  • Put residents first in decisions that affect daily life and neighbourhood livability
  • Improve parks, trails, and community spaces across Niagara-on-the-Lake
  • Promote safe, walkable, and livable neighbourhoods for families, seniors, and all residents
  • Preserve the calm, accessible, and welcoming character of Niagara-on-the-Lake

04 / 04

Heritage, Environment & Rural Character

Our heritage buildings, mature tree canopy, agricultural landscape, and quiet rural character are what make Niagara-on-the-Lake unique. Protecting them is a council responsibility — not an afterthought.

Practical Commitments

  • Stand up for stronger heritage protections and real enforcement
  • Safeguard mature trees and expand our urban canopy for future generations
  • Protect farmland and rural landscapes from short-sighted planning decisions
  • Put residents first in parks, trails, public spaces, and waterfront investment
  • Bring common-sense environmental leadership to every municipal decision
